Deborah Smith
Principal of Providence Secondary School
Principal Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English at York University in Toronto, Canada. It is at this university that she also completed her Bachelor of Education with an emphasis in the area of Special Education. She then earned her M.Ed. in the Foundations of Teaching, from Niagara University in Buffalo, New York, United States.
Her career in teaching has afforded her a variety of experiences from the primary classroom through to Adjunct Professor of Education for York University. In her role as administrator of schools in the York Region District School Board of Ontario, Ms. Smith worked with families of varied economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Principal Smith draws from her experiences to provide strong leadership to support the work of Providence Secondary School’s exceptional and dedicated faculty and staff, to foster a caring, learning environment where every student can reach their potential.
